Thank you, again, for your willingness to "put yourself out there" and learning together in this environment.
We reviewed Chapter 1, "The Instructional Core" and followed a powerpoint of discussion points. There are 7 principles and three core elements in the Instructional Core: Content, Teacher, Student. Task predicts performance.
The Network (Rounds) is not a "program," it is a process.
We discussed HOPES and FEARS
HOPES: *The process will/does provide motivation and "hope" to be better *Creates energy; and "synergy" to keep growing *Hopes to develop/creat "future classrooms" *Provides the "why"; to see the purpose behing "the change" (e.g., technology or whatever the instructional initiative) *Allows to see "system change" *help to learn how to set up Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
FEARS: -teachers will feel attacked; piked apart; more division created -fear of becoming "one of THOSE teacher; doing the same thing year after year. Having people say, "It's time for her/him to retire." -The the DLT Learning Network is not transparent "enough"; and any future "networks" become stagnant and negative -That we don't have the skills or don't know how to establish PLCs
NORMS established for DLT Learning Network: *Help each oher take time to REFLECT *Bring your BEST to the table *Help each other stay focused *Help each other provide a "shot in he arm" to keep the learning fresh and motivation engaged *Establish & Promote an honest, sincere, safe environment--be Open and respectfully challenge each other *Deepen the rich conversations through K-12 connections and bring different perspectives to the table. We Read Chapter 4 "Learning to See, Unlearning to Judge" We use the protocol of "A WORD and a PHRASE" that resonated for each reader and shared with the group. The words: Evidence, Descriptive, and Unlearn emerged.
Please List your PHRASE that resonated with you in Chapter 4:
PLUS: *The small group was well organized; the agenda/activities are "changed up" and interesting.
*It provides new learning with alignment with our current goals and initiatives
*LUNCH!
*The Hopes & Fears List
*Allowed us time to read and then practice
*Expanding our thinking about the use of videos of lessons for self and with others
DELTA (Questions or Wonderings): ? How do we use this learning on a larger scale? ? How do we support the "Transparency " of this learning? -At school, we still get interruptions
Thank you, again, for your willingness to "put yourself out there" and learning together in this environment.
